Aritra (she/her) believes deeply that mental health is political and her practice is rooted in queer/trans affirming practices, anti-caste and feminist politics, disability rights and social justice.
She is a registered clinical psychologist with the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) with over three years of experience of working in clinical and research settings.
She is well-versed in English and Bangla and has working knowledge of Hindi.In her psychotherapy work with clients across diverse life experiences and social locations, she prioritizes personhood over pathology as a baseline value.
She lets her practice be informed by evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), third-wave approaches like DBT and ACT, emotion and compassion-focused work, motivational interviewing and behaviour change communications.
Aritra is constantly learning and unlearning from her clients to do better, and is happy to bear witness for their personal growth inside and beyond therapy.
She is also a registered PhD candidate at the Dept. of Psychology, University of Calcutta. She has special interest in women’s mental health, trans/queer health, lived experience studies and service-user perspectives.
