Angela Johnson

Counselling Psychologist

My therapeutic approach is eclectic, meaning I draw from multiple therapeutic modalities to create a tailored treatment plan for each client.

This flexibility allows me to address the unique needs and challenges of every individual. Person-Centered Therapy (PCT) approach forms the foundation of my therapeutic relationship with clients.

PCT focuses on creating a supportive, empathetic environment where clients feel understood and valued. This approach allows clients to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment, fostering self-discovery and personal growth.

My inclination lies towards Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Choice Theory/Reality Therapy (CTRT). ACT is a core component of my practice. It emphasizes values, cognitive defusion, mindfulness and acceptance strategies combined with commitment and behavior change strategies.

ACT helps clients accept the things they cannot change and commit to actions that align with their values, leading to a more meaningful life. CTRT is a practical approach that helps clients focus on the choices they make and how those choices impact their lives. By emphasizing personal responsibility, CTRT encourages clients to take control of their actions and work towards fulfilling their basic needs in healthy, productive ways.

All clients are treated with utmost care and sincerity with specific treatment and intervention plans to meet their unique needs. I am also a trauma- informed therapist and practice it effectively.

By combining these approaches, I can offer a comprehensive, personalized treatment that considers each client's specific circumstances, goals, and preferences. This integrative approach ensures that therapy is both effective and meaningful for each individual.
