Counseling is a form of talk therapy that encourages people to
address the issue they are facing with the eventual goal of
overcoming the problem. In counseling, you and your therapist
will work together toward ensuring your emotional and mental
well-being. Your therapist will use tools to help you navigate
any difficult feelings, behaviors, thoughts, or situations
that you are experiencing.
The first session looks very different and daunting as compared to the sessions that follow because you are meeting your therapist for the first time. The first online therapy session will be centred around rapport formation with your therapist with the motive of getting to know you better. You’d be asked simple questions that will help them get more insights about your life, daily schedule, thoughts and emotions, behaviour patterns, likes and dislikes and the area of life you wish to work on.
A psychiatrist is a doctor working primarily in psychopathology, the medical domain concerned with identifying, researching, diagnosing, and treating mental health concerns. Unlike psychologists, psychiatrists can prescribe you medicines (if required) to manage your mental health concerns or diagnoses.
Therapy is for anyone and everyone. Anything that makes you stressed, worried, or impacts your mood can be discussed in therapy, from daily life concerns to a one-of-a-kind occurrence.
Counseling psychologists collaborate with clients to address their mental health concerns and trace their root causes. They work in tandem with their clients, encouraging them to make decisions which aid their mental well-being.
A clinical psychologist specializes in psychological problems causing severe distress, such as psychosis. They use psychometric testing, questionnaires, and assessments to diagnose and treat their clients.
Yes, it is absolutely safe to take medications. The chemical composition in the brain causes psychological disorders; medications act on these irregularities to decrease or, in some cases, completely eliminate your discomfort. However, you should take medicines only as and when prescribed by a psychiatrist. Avoid self-medicating; it can can actually worsen your symptoms.
Online therapy is as helpful as face-to-face counselling. Like in-person therapy, online therapy also helps you express yourself with the help of a qualified professional. Plus, it saves you money, conveyance time, and the hassle of setting up in-person meetings. According to your comfort and convenience, you can ask your therapist to conduct online sessions over either a video or audio call.
ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, a complex brain disorder that impacts approximately 11% of children and almost 5% of adults. ADHD is a developmental disorder that affects the executive processes of the brain. ADHD individuals struggle with impulse control, attention, and organization.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, ADHD affects 3 to 5% of preschool and school-age children. As a result, in a class of 25 to 30 students, it is expected that at least one will have this illness. ADHD usually starts in infancy, although it can linger until maturity.
Your doctor will look for any ADHD symptoms you or your kid have displayed in the last six months. In addition, they will perform a physical check and evaluate your medical history to rule out any other medical or psychological issues that might be causing your symptoms.
People with the inattentive subtype of ADHD struggle to focus, complete activities, and follow directions. They are easily sidetracked and prone to forgetfulness. They might be daydreamers who regularly lose track of assignments, mobile phones, and chats.
The most effective ADHD treatment options are multimodal, which are combinations of several diverse, complementary approaches that work together to minimize symptoms. This perfect mix may comprise ADHD medication, diet, exercise, and behavioral treatment for one person. Another option is to take ADHD supplements and vitamins and practice mindfulness.
There appears to be a wide range of factors, including heredity and environmental factors. Gender, family history, prenatal hazards, environmental pollutants, and anatomical distinctions in the brain appear to be implicated.
Some of the common symptoms are inattention, lack of focus, weak impulse control, poor time management, exaggerated emotions, hyperactivity, hyper-focus, and executive dysfunction.
People with hyperactive-impulsive ADHD act "as if pushed by a motor," with little impulse control, fidgeting, wriggling, and talking at inappropriate times. They are rash, irritable, and frequently interrupt others.
Individuals with combined-type ADHD exhibit a combination of all of the symptoms listed above. Patients with this Combined Type of ADHD will be diagnosed by a physician if they fulfill the criteria for Primarily Inattentive ADHD and Primarily Hyperactive-Impulsive ADHD. That is, individuals must display six of the nine symptoms associated with each sub-type.
Living with ADHD can be tough since the symptoms can make daily tasks difficult. It's critical to seek the help you need to understand and manage your or your child's condition. For example - plan the day, set clear boundaries, be positive, give instructions, and incentive schemes, intervene early, exercise, and have a proper routine.
While it is completely safe to be on birth control, we suggest you talk to you doctor first. This is because not all birth control methods are suitable for everyone. Depending on your age, medical history, existing medications, sexual activity, etc., your doctor can suggest the contraceptives best suited for you!
No, only condoms (also referred to as the barrier method)
provide you with protection against both unwanted pregnancy
and STDs. Condoms can be internal (for vagina owners) as well
as external (for penis owners) and come in different sizes,
textures, and materials.

Yes! People take birth control for different reasons, and there’s no hard and fast rule that contraceptives are only meant for sexually active people. Your doctor might prescribe you birth control pills if you experience PCOS or any other medical conditions related to menstrual health. People with hormonal acne, among certain other conditions, can also be prescribed hormonal birth control pills. Just make sure that you’re aware of how the birth control method of your choice affects your body before you start taking it, that’s all!
There is no single best option when it comes to birth control.
Based on your priorities and comfort, you can choose from
condoms, birth control pills, intrauterine devices (IUD),
hormonal rings and patches, etc. However, make sure to discuss
the pros and cons of the methods with your doctor beforehand.

While you need a prescription from a doctor or a health center to purchase birth control pills, you can buy emergency contraception, condoms (both internal and external), and birth control rings without a prescription. Some contraceptive methods, such as the IUD, need to be implemented through a medical procedure. Hence, it is best if you discuss the birth control options available to you with your gynaecologist before starting anything long-term.
The morning-after pill is a method of birth control known as
emergency contraception. If your typical form of birth control
wasn't used properly (for instance, if the condom broke
during sex) or if you are not on birth control, you should use
the pill to prevent an unplanned pregnancy. However, emergency
contraceptive is not the same as birth control pills (which
need to be taken daily) and should not be your primary method
of birth control.

Research suggests that smoking over 10 cigarettes a day can
significantly increase the chances of ED, and the effects can
be irreversible even if you stop smoking later in life. While
consuming alcohol in moderation calms the nerves, too much
alcohol can lead to weak erections, lower libido, and
inability to maintain an erection for long.

Viagra increases blood flow to the erectile tissues of your
penis, making it easier for you to get and sustain an
erection. It might even give you a stronger erection, which
can directly impact your sex life. However, supplements do not
increase the size or girth of your penis, or make you last
longer before ejaculating.

Couples therapy is a form of psychotherapy that is aimed at helping couples resolve conflicts and strengthen their relationship. Couples counseling can be an essential therapeutic approach for couples who are struggling with communication issues, conflict, or other challenges in their relationship.
Couples therapy usually lasts for 10–12 sessions, although some couples may need more or less depending on the severity of their issues. The length of time depends on the amount of effort a couple is willing to put in.
Without a doubt! Often, partners work well together but seek counseling to build or improve a certain aspect of their relationship. Couples counseling can help strengthen an already strong relationship.
The first session is an evaluation in which we gather information about you and your companion. We normally meet with couples individually in the second and third sessions to learn about their relationship history. We get couples back together at the fourth session to track their interaction habits.
You have already taken a step toward better mental health by choosing to go to therapy. Acknowledge it and be proud of the effort you have put in! Remember to set goals, be open and honest, and have realistic expectations. Schedule your session at a convenient time and keep an open mind. You can also note down a few things you’d like to discuss with your therapist beforehand.
Couples therapy often includes frequent sessions with a therapist to explore concerns in your relationship. The therapist will direct you and your partner in expressing more efficiently, addressing conflict, and deeper understanding each other.
Couples counseling is required when you and your partner are experiencing challenges that you are unable to overcome on your own. If you have a difficulty in your relationship, the sooner you seek assistance, the easier it will be to address it.
The initial goal for us is to make you feel secure in an environment where no one will judge you or allow you to be hurt. That way, we can work together to keep the relationship strong and continue to be a source of support, confidence, and well-being for both individuals.
It is often helpful if both partners are willing to participate in therapy, but it is not necessary. We frequently meet folks in relationships on a 1:1 level. Individual sessions often help in our understanding of you as an individual, enabling us to better understand you in the context of your relationship.
The amount of time it takes to see results from couples therapy depends on the severity of the problem and the willingness of both partners to work on the relationship. In most cases, noticeable improvements can be made within a few sessions.
The personal details of everyone seeking therapy are kept anonymous and confidential by therapists, and these details are not shared with anybody without the client's consent. However, in extreme cases where the client poses a danger to a person's - their own or someone else's - life, the therapist would get in touch with their emergency contact.
